An unyielding river flows through the Amazonian rainforest, and so do oil, and blood, and a powerful, predatory serpent. Vivid, even gaudy, dramatic and cruel, BOA is a reflection on the countless currents of conflict coursing through South America’s vast jungle expanses. Released on World Environment Day 2021, it’s a labour of love from rising Bogotá studio Dinamita Animación, who enlisted help from animators in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Spain to bring their startling vision to life. – Rupert Bottenberg
