When and how is Fantasia 2022 going to take place?
Following 2021's hybrid festival, Fantasia will now take place exclusively in-person from July 14 to August 3, 2022! Films will be screened in theatres around Montreal, at Concordia University’s Hall, J.A. de Sève and York Cinemas, as well as the Cinémathèque québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Cinéma du Parc, and the McCord Museum.
Will there be any online streaming options this year?
No, Fantasia 2022 will take place exclusively in cinemas around Montreal.
When and where can I buy this year’s printed program?
The souvenir program for the 2022 edition of Festival will be on sale throughout the province of Quebec starting July 8 at 5PM in the stores listed on this page, and at the Fantasia box-office starting July 9, for $5.00 (cash only). Limited free copies will also be available at all Desjardins 360D locations in Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City, Saguenay, Sherbrooke and Trois-Rivières) starting July 11.
Will official merchandise be available to purchase online again?
No, the Fantasia 2022 official merchandise will only be sold at our in-person merch booth, and will be available to purchase throughout the entire festival while supplies last. This FAQ entry will be updated in the coming days with more information about the booth’s specific location and operating hours.
Where can I buy the official Fantasia 2022 poster?
Unfortunately, the Fantasia 2022 poster, Fantastiques week-ends du cinéma québécois poster, as well as individual film posters will not be available to purchase this year. However, you can buy a mini version of the Fantasia 2022 poster at the merch booth.
Will wearing masks be mandatory in the cinemas?
Fantasia will not be enforcing a mask mandate as long as it is not required by local health authorities, however we strongly encourage our audience to continue wearing masks and to be mindful of everyone’s health and safety.
Can we eat and drink in the cinemas?
Yes! In fact, popcorn and snacks will be available to purchase at most of our screening locations.
How can I find out if the screenings I’m interested in will have special guests attending?
Many cast and crew members will be present at the festival this year! To find out which ones, please consult this page, which will be updated as more guests are confirmed.
Will there be an Arrow Video / Vinegar Syndrome vendor booth this year?
Yes! This FAQ entry will be updated in the coming days with more information about our partner booths’ specific locations and schedules.
Are the cinemas accessible for people with reduced mobility?
Yes. Concordia’s Hall and J.A. de Sève Cinemas, as well as the Cinémathèque québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Cinéma du Parc (through the entrance at 3590 Jeanne-Mance Street) and the McCord Museum (through the entrance at 2175 Victoria Street) are wheelchair accessible.
